The date for the event will be Friday 27 June 2014. Hard work between 3 and 6 pm. Family fun and celebration between 6pm and 8.30.
Essentially this is a day in which the community, schools, the private sector and the public sector all join forces and work together to improve our surroundings. With the full support of Wiltshire Council and Devizes Town Council we want to know what locals would like to see done.
From helping clear the storm damage at Drews Pond, to creating planters and improving the look of The Brittox, from tidying up individual estates and neighbourhoods to filling hanging baskets around the town, this is our chance to decide what needs to be done.
Having established a list of tasks we will need volunteers; businesses allowing staff a couple of hours off, schools rallying their students, whole families volunteering together and we can then make it happen.
We will also be looking for sponsorship, maybe paint and wood, maybe cakes and buns, maybe printing or staff hours, all will be gratefully accepted.
As a thank you, we will be having a big party in the Market Place to celebrate our community and what can be achieved when we work together. There will be live music, a hog roast and bars and cafes all out in the early evening sunshine.
Suggestions for work you would like to see undertaken to be sent to Claire Markwell at Winkworth House, 4/5 Market Place, Devizes, SN10 1HT or to the Gazette and Herald.
