St John's Tree Festival features 70 decorated trees by local schools, nurseries, care homes and individuals as well as businesses, scouts, guides and brownies. Each tree is sponsored to the amount of £30 by local businesses and local people as well as some of the decorators.
We are launching the festival on December 8 in the afternoon with MP Claire Perry coming to judge the trees and present awards. This event from 2.30 pm is open to all and will finish with informal carols in the church.
The church is then open until Twelfth night for people to view, but times will be advertised later.
This year we are once again offering memorial trees in the churchyard and will also have memorial trees to commemorate the end of WW1.
People can donate to have an epitaph put on the WW1 trees for this memorial and money raised from these trees will go to the Royal British Legion.
